Think of the commission process as a blank canvas. Whether you’re filling a space in your house or office, developing the perfect gift for a loved one, or simply bringing an idea to life, commissions are the way to build a perfect art piece.

I start with listening — truly listening — to my clients and their vision. I love to hear the inspiration behind the idea to help fully capture the scene. Some people love a natural scene in the fall and want to look at it forever through the lens of paint on canvas. Others have a whimsical scene bursting from their head and want to see it become a reality.

A commission is an agreement between an artist and a client where the client pays the artist to create a specific piece of artwork according to their requirements and preferences.
Not Necessarily! You can have inspiration, a vague string of words, a blank wall — anything! Clear vision and ideas will help the process move along, but the more your vision is articulated, the easier it will be to create the piece you’re looking for. Otherwise, you can grant the artist creative license to create the piece we think fits best!
Commissions can be really anything. Want a collection of custom greeting cards? A 8x10 of a bird? A large canvas? Or maybe a whimsical scene for your nursery? Commissions start with a message and end with brining the art in your mind’s eye to life.
The first thing to do is review the artist's gallery for a sense of style. Every artist has their unique way of seeing the world and expressing that on paper, canvas, wood, or walls with paint, pens, pencils, or mixed media. Once you find the artist that fits into your vision, the next thing is to start the conversation!
People are commonly concerned that commissions cost thousands. Here is the truth: they can. But most projects are somewhere in the $200 to $600 range. Commissions are largely size-depenent — the larger paintings require more materials, time, and expertise. The best way to know is to contact and get the conversation started!
